Preparing Your Audio

To ensure the best possible result, please follow these guidelines when submitting your audio:

Format - Please export your audio as a mono .WAV file.

Track Files - Export your audio tracks as two separate files, labeled SideA.wav and SideB.wav.

Audio Levels - We recommend mastering your tracks to -1.5dB to ensure proper levels.

Track Length - Ensure that your tracks are the correct length for the side. If a track is too long for the available space, it may be cut short.

Track Order - It's best to arrange louder tracks at the start of the side and quieter tracks towards the end for optimal sound.

Avoid Clipping - Please avoid audio clipping, as this can reduce clarity.

Sibilance - To minimize distortion or crunching, we recommend de-essing vocals and reducing high frequencies if possible.

By placing an order on this website, you agree to the following terms and conditions:

1. Test Cuts

If you are unfamiliar with embossed mono lathe cut records, we strongly recommend ordering a test cut to evaluate the sound quality before committing to a full order. This allows you to assess the recording's performance and ensure it meets your expectations.

2. Product Description & Quality

Due to the handmade process of creating embossed mono lathe cut records, each disc may exhibit slight variations in sound quality, such as surface noise or tracking issues, depending on the turntable used. We test all records on turntables without anti-skate, but we recommend that they be played on turntables with adjustable tracking weight and anti-skate features for the best playback experience.

While we ensure each record is cut to the highest possible standard, minor imperfections (such as light surface noise or slight pitch variations) are inherent to the handmade nature of lathe cuts. These characteristics are not considered defects.

3. Shipping & Delivery

Each embossed lathe cut record is made to order. Production typically takes 3-4 weeks, but please allow additional time for shipping.

Shipping costs are calculated based on the weight and destination of the order. International shipping fees will be confirmed via email.

While every effort is made to securely package your order, Johnny Electric is not responsible for any damage that occurs during shipping. If your order arrives damaged, please contact the shipping carrier directly.

Tracking information will be provided once orders are shipped.

4. Returns & Refunds

As each record is custom-made, we do not accept returns or offer refunds once the order is placed.

If you receive a defective product (e.g., cutting errors or physical damage that occurred during production), please contact us within 7 days of receiving your order. We will assess the issue and offer a solution, which may include a replacement.

5. Track Rights & Audio Submission

By submitting your tracks, you confirm that you hold the necessary rights to reproduce and distribute the audio provided. You are fully responsible for ensuring you have permission to use and distribute the music.

We may store your tracks for archiving purposes and occasionally keep an extra copy of the record for quality control and archiving. Your tracks will not be used or distributed without your prior consent.

6. Order Terms

All orders require full payment before production begins.

Orders will be processed in the order they are received.

Due to the handmade nature of lathe cuts, slight variations in sound quality may occur between individual records.

Production time is typically 2-3 weeks, but may vary depending on order volume. We will notify you if there are any significant delays.

7. Audio Requirements

Audio files should be provided in mono WAV format for optimal quality, any stereo content will be summed to mono.

Audio duration must not exceed the maximum limits for the selected size and RPM. (Please check the relevant guidelines for time limits based on the record size you are ordering.)

Tracks should be mastered to -1.5dB to ensure optimal cutting results. Unmastered or poorly balanced audio may affect the final product.

8. Privacy & Data Protection

We take your privacy seriously. Any personal information you provide (such as contact details and payment information) will be used solely for processing your order.

We do not share your data with third parties, except as required to fulfill your order or as otherwise outlined in our Privacy Policy.

9. Limitation of Liability

Johnny Electric is not liable for any damages or losses resulting from the use or inability to use the products, including but not limited to errors in cutting or any imperfections inherent in the handmade process.

We do not guarantee that records will perform identically across all turntables. It is your responsibility to ensure the compatibility of your equipment with lathe cut records.
